Geoffrey Slaff, Ph.D.

Dr. Slaff is a senior business executive with more than 27 years of experience in biopharmaceutical operations.

After earning a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering, he worked in global pharma/biotech companies, a small start-up, and in a European company.

In early 2011 Geoff retired from Amgen after 13 years where he was a Senior Vice President of Process and Product Engineering and before that Senior Vice President of Quality and EH&S. Earlier in his career at Amgen, he held leadership positions in engineering, risk management, clinical, and commercial manufacturing and process development. At Amgen, Dr. Slaff was an active member of functional and corporate level executive management teams and led global, technically diverse organizations composed of up to 1500 scientist and engineers, as well as managed budgets in the $350M range.

Geoff started his career at Schering Plough working in the process development organization. He then moved to a small start up called Synergen located in Boulder Colorado. Working there for more than years, Geoff held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of manufacturing and process engineering. After Synergen, he worked for two and a half years for Ares-Serono in Switzerland, heading their Process Development group. From Switzerland his family and he moved to Southern California to work for Amgen.

Dr. Slaff was actively engaged in developing research discoveries into commercial products and was intimately involved in the launch of seven protein and small molecule therapeutics and multiple drug delivery and patient convenience devices. He has experience working with the Food and Drug Administration, European Medicines Agency and many other international regulatory agencies.

Geoff Slaff is currently a professional consultant, lecturer and amateur beach volleyball player and sailor.
